Defensive Driver Training – National Safety Council Professional Truck Driver (PTD)
More fatalities occur on the roads each year than anywhere else. While the hazards we’re exposed to on the jobsites garner our primary focus, the time needs to be made to train our drivers. This is especially true for the employees who drive between jobs all day, as their frequency of exposure is significantly increased compared to the employee who simply drives to and from the jobsite each day.
For more than 20 years, the National Safety Council DDC-Professional Truck Driver (PTD) program has been the most comprehensive training of its type, giving professional truck drivers defensive driving techniques that help them avoid collisions, injuries and violations and teach personal responsibility for their driving decisions. Throughout the 3-4-hour course, participants learn how to recognize both potential and immediate hazards, how to avoid collisions in a variety of driving conditions, and how to choose safe and legal driving behaviors. The course addresses multiple defensive driving concepts and strategies. Participants are engaged through group activities, discussions and self-awareness-oriented instruments that relate to their driving behaviors.
Additionally, Hettrick, Cyr & Associates has partnered with the National Safety Council to offer an online course that, upon completion, will provide participants with a certificate of completion.
